How to make your bedroom cosy for the wintertime

Hi lovelies,

So if you know anything about me, you would know that I LOVE the cosy season. When the weather starts to get colder and the days are getting shorter, I get into my ‘festive mood’ as I like to call it. The candles start to pop up more and more throughout my house and I might even use some fairy lights here and there to make things more cosy when the evenings get darker. I have never had a problem with envisioning these cosy elements in my living room and putting everything together until it all looks cute and coordinated. However, our bedroom is a different story. This year I really wanted to make an effort to make the bedroom look cosy as well as I love to snuggle up early and get into bed with my laptop to watch a movie or write a blogpost. I grabbed some things that I thought would help me to get ‘the cosy effect’ and started arranging things and I think that after some time and effort I have found a simple way to decorate your bedroom all cosy for the festive season, but still keep it calm and collected as it should also be a place for you to relax. I am going to share four different tips with you below on how to achieve this.

1. Get yourself a good old garland

So my first tip is definitely to get yourself a garland. This is one very simple (and quite cheap) item that makes the room 10 times more festive on its own without it being too much drama going on in your bedroom. Of course you can opt for fairy lights with your garland which is definitely a must for me as I am obessed with fairy lights. For me this does put everything together, but if you are not that kinda gal (or boy) you can always just choose to put up a really pretty garland on the top of your bed to make things more festive

2. Candles, candles, candles

Again, you can go really overboard with this or you can keep it really simple. I have one candle up on my little shelf above the bed and then another (scented) candle on my bedside table. I love to light the one on my bedside table when me and hubby cosy up in bed to watch some Netflix, but the fact that there are candles in your room (lit or not) just gives the room a more cosy feel to it.

3. Festive bedding

Ok, so do you remember that I was talking about not going too far crazy in the bedroom with decorating? Well, meet my crazy Christmas bedding. I actually bought this as more of joke but it turns out I am secretly in love with it and so is my husband. I absolutely agree that it does come of kind of garish, but I just simply normally have a white bedspread to make it all a bit more calm and peaceful. Below you can see the difference that it makes with or without bedspread. This is just a case of: whatever floats your boat

4. Textures

With textures I mean the well known cosy textures. As my bedding can my kind of crazy, I like to throw in just one very simply, fluffy, white pillow. This gives the bed this extra touch of cosyness and makes me personally want to jump in bed everytime I walk into the room and believe me, that is NOT always a good thing.

These were my four tips on how to make your bedroom look more cosy and festive for the cold season. I hope you enjoyed reading it and if you decide to follow any of these tips, please do share them with me on Instagram. I’d love to have a good old nosey around your festive bedrooms!

Love,

Marina
